SPECIAL INFORMATION BANK (SIB)

The SIB provides the research community with information on the development and results of the Greek social research production, namely research projects, institutions and researchers.

The SIB was designed in the framework of the project "EKKE's Structural Reengineering Study" and developed in the framework of the project "Development of Special Information Bank", financed by the "KLEISTHENIS" Business Programme. The SIB functions as information source for social data. It provides information for both data deposited at the Social Data and Indicators Archive (SDIA) and data not deposited in it. The existence of a number of different data sets arising from different surveys, thus organized in different manners, demands for additional information targeting to their tracing (identification?) by the users. This information is organized in a standardized manner and supported by an operational model for handling social data.

The function of SIB is based on the development and enhancement of cooperation and networking among institutions or individuals who produce, analyse or provide social data.

The SIB is functioning as an information point for social research, in the sense that it:

  • Provides users with information on research data in the country
  • Directs users to the relevant data producers and providers
  • Provides links, where possible, with web sites relevant to social research
  • In particular, it provides information on:

  • Projects
  • Empirical Surveys
  • Micro Datasets
  • Organizations
  • Publications
