SPECIAL INFORMATION BANK (SIB)

SIB provides the scientific community with information regarding the development and the results of social research in the country. It provides information concerning the agencies, the research potential, the research and development projects and their results.

The SIB was designed within the framework of the EKKE Structural Modernization program and it was developed within the "Development of Special Information Database" Act that was financed by the "Kleisthenes" business program. The SIB provides any one interested with information concerning the available data, as well as the research projects, the agencies and the research potential involved in the empirical research, as producers or users of its products. It operates therefore as a data source file. Thus, the party interested can immediately retrieve data and access basic information regarding the associated agency. The existence of many different data groups derived from different listings and organized in different ways creates the need of more information in order to make facilitate their evaluation and optimize information management. For this additional information to be understood, it must be organized in a specific fashion according to a business model for social data. This model assures the implementation of a standard filing and documentation procedure for different groups of data produced by independent empirical researches.

SIB operation is supported by the EKKE Liaison Office.

SIB operation is based upon the creation of a network of carriers that produce, analyze or dispose social data.
EKKE as a central junction:

  • provides users with information for the data available in the network
  • refers parties to the relevant agencies
  • links the SIB with European and international social data base networks
