Forests and Biodiversity

As forests are cleared and burned, massive amounts of greenhouse gases are released. Over 4 billion tons of carbon dioxide are released from deforestation in tropical countries. This is equivalent to 80 percent of the CO2 released in the U.S. from energy and cement use.
