The Organisation is Association - Union since 1989

Aims

Environmental protection of Psychico from any building, traffic and environmental problem / preventing any attempt

for constructing the forest park / continuous cooperation with the municipality and any association for the

conservation of the environment /

Supporting municipality of Psychico and its claims to legal authorities / enlightening citizens for every relevant issue

and developing ties between members of the organization

General Issue: Environmental protection

Activities - Results:

Part of a grove was classified as a 'business activities area' (shopping centre), and complaints were made to the

prefecture in order to re-declare it as a communal area with building restriction orders.

The old 'market place' used to be a communal area offered by the private company 'Kekrops' to the municipality which

is entering an appeal to the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Finance.

Lodging an appeal by 20 residents to the State Council.

Bringing in a indictment against E. Papadimitriou (Ministry of the Environment Secretary General) and the company in

relation to the issue of illegal permission to built.

Activities - Results:

Bringing charges to the municipality against the location of 50 businesses around the boundaries of the municipality.

The municipality lodged an appeal against the State Council twice and won both times.

Despite the existence of a high-school and lyceum, all private schools and embassies are situated illegally at the

fringe of the municipality.

Co-operation with the environmental organisations of Nea Ionia, Galatsi, Filothei in order to undertake reforestation

activities on Tourkovounia.

Interventions made to the Ministry of the Environment and other ministries for the prevention of building activities on

the mountain and the sub-urban areas.

Activities - Results:

Co-operation of 30 associations for the protection of Attiki's communal areas. A meeting entitled 'Tourkovounia

reforestation' was organised and representations were made to the meeting for the Olympic Games.
