Aims

Preventing and long-term diversion of the raising degradation of the natural environment and providing aid to

build a future on which humans will live peacefully with nature in Greece and the other Mediterranean Balkan

General Issue: Coastal and sea systems

Activities - Results:

Recording of the sea seal's population and of the dangers that it faces. Lodging of management proposals regarding

the species and its habitat

Co-submission with other environmental NGOs of proposals for the establishment of a sea park in Zante which

resulted in a positive outcome

Protection of the sea seal population in collaboration with the Society for the study and protection of sea seal. This

initiative formed part of a relevant programme (01/97- 11/97)

We have a list of 150 journalists (around 50 newspapers) of which 48 press releases were sent in the time period

Remarks: A general comment would be that the daily press does not consider the environment a serious issue.

The collaboration with the environmental reporters is very satifying. (the degree of satisfaction ends up to be 3
