Forming an association called 'The friends of Naousa's animals' with the purposes of a) creating a sanctuary for stray

dogs, and b) reducing the number of hunting licences at a local level.

Activities - Results:

Being alerted so that the way that the Environmental Impact Assessment process is implemented in Naousa's

development projects, follows not only to the letter of the law, but to its spirit too.

Activities - Results:

Elaboration of a study regarding the reduction of refuse, and its submission to the prefecture and the municipality.

The study also included 1) paper, aluminium, glass recycling, 2) composting of organic material from households in

order to reduce plastic bags, and the sanitary landfilling of the remaining refuse.

The study's proposal included the provision of small personal 40 litre bins per household in order that plastic bags

thrown on the Greek pedestrian streets are eliminated.

The Imathia prefecture has approved the construction of only 1 sanitary landfilling grounds rather than 7 that are

needed according to the study.

Provision of bins for the collection of out-of-use pesticides at points were farmers get water for their agricultural

Organisation of speeches and film screenings, for farmers in the prefecture. The subject of these events was organic

Publications, contacts made with pesticide supply companies with the view of adopting an 'integrated fruit cultivation'.

The result is, however, that agriculturists and retailers alike condemn any approach other than that of the chemical

tackling of plant diseases.

Activities - Results:

Attempts made to sensitise the public about recycling through the production of radio programmes and article

Paper and aluminium recycling in collaboration with Naousa municipality and Veria Ecological Group. The later is

responsible for collecting and disposing of the materials.

Result: The participation of the public was positive and it is estimated that the annual production figures will be 12

kilos per citizen and 8 kilos in Athens.

Implementing a proposal for the establishment of pilot teams in Greece for environmental protection - quality of life.
