Aims

Upgrading and environmental protection / rising the intellectual and cultural level, improving life quality of Kerkinis’

citizens / to promote collaboration between members and to help in dealing with local problems / conservation of

tradition / to search, study and resolve local problems, contributing in local development / to co-operate with the

community and with other authorities and associations.

Organisation of a photographic exhibition on an annual basis within the framework of the Holy Spirit festive activities,

with the view to informing the public about bird-protection.

Contribution to the youth exchange programme of General Directorate of New Generations having an ecological

Organisation of a meeting, in collaboration with three other environmental groups of Serres prefecture, about the

study undertaken by the prefectural authorities concerning the rising of Kerkini lake levee.

A common decision amongst the environmental organisations of Serres prefecture, the Forest Inspection and the

Hunting Associations was taken regarding controlled hunting at a specific area.

This proposal was submitted to the Ministry of the Environment which rejected it. As a result, Kerkini remained closed

Taking measures towards tackling illegal hunting, in collaboration with the Forest Inspection which financially

supported these efforts from money drawn out from hunting funds.

Fixing a stork's nest in the lake and is called 'the symbol of Kerkini lake' in collaboration with local hunters.

Bringing charges to the police and the Forest Police against illegal fishing.

Organisation of athletic events at the lake in collaboration with Kalamaria municipality and other environmental

organisations, with the purpose of saving the lake.

Participation in the international Birds Festival.

Allotment of a hunting area to the hunting Association of Rodopi after the written agreement that the Association will

respect the current situation and protect the lake from illegal hunters during hunting prohibition periods.

Invitations sent to all schools of the area during bird releases organised by EKPIZAP.

Visiting-guiding of pupils every May at Kerkini lake, screening of transparencies and speeches about the environment.
