Legal Status

Today the Organisation is Association - Union since 1996

Initially the Organisation was Non Typical Collaboration since 1994

Aims

Members of the movement and citizens of the region have began to understand environmental issues /

conservation and protection of cultural heritage and every kind of civilization

Collaboration with local authorities (Local administration, cultural associations etc) for environmental subjects /

promotion of environmental education

Backing the activist action-protest against water pollution of Veria Ecological Group (members of the Veria Ecological

Group 'suspended themselves' from Edessa's waterfall).

Participation in a scientific meeting concerning the water 'natural capital' of Edessa's area.

Participation in meetings organised by local authorities. The subject was the protection of Vegoritida lake.

Co-operation with a lyceum throughout the implementation of a national environmental education programme called

Activities - Results:

Submission to the Forest Department and the fire brigade of a list of 100 volunteers.

An initiative was undertaken to protect the forest from fire but it was not fruitful due to the lack of technical means

(e.g. wireless communication).

Participation in a reforestation scheme organised by the Forest Inspection (12/94).

Forest clearing of caterpillars. Voluntary work provision at Mr FUKUOKA's natural reforestation programme.
