Today the Organisation is Civic non Profit Organisation since 1995

Initially the Organisation was Other since 1995

Aims

To make use of the organization’s members and of the citizens of Thessaloniki in order to get activated about

culture, environment and life quality issues. / To organize a communication and cooperation network between

Thessalonikis’ citizens and citizens’ groups in order to legally and politically support several social activities / to

promote environmental, cultural and life quality issues

II. Activities

General Issue: Urban environment

Issue-Topic: Averting of demolition of the royal theatre

The activity took place in 1996 Range: Local

Activities - Results:

Making announcements to the press, producing scientific documentation, lodging a complaint against the illegal

demolition, raising an objection against the amendment of the street-plan which minimises green areas resulting in

the temporary suspension of the complete demolition.

Issue-Topic: Conservation of rotunda's historical and cultural character

Information of the public, scientific documentation, organisation of a meeting and two musical events.

Lodging of an appeal to the State Council (pending) resulting in the classification of rotunda as a monument which

should be managed by the Ministry of Culture, rather that by the diocese of Thessalonica

Issue-Topic: Pedestrians walking in the city

The activity took place in 1996 Range: Local

Activities - Results:

Information of the public, scientific documentation, organisation of a meeting, visiting schools with the purpose of

linking the issue with the action of environmental NGOs, organisation of open-air events, elaboration of a symbolic

pedestrianization of the old beach resulting in the stricter enforcement of traffic measures and the protection of

Potential repetitive (once per week) pedestrilization of the old beach.

Information, mobilisation and petition.

Organisation of various events and making a protest to the Prefecture which resulted in the temporary avoidance of

land-grabbing and in the declassification of the forest land.

organisation of music concerts,
