Protecting natural environment of the prefecture of Trikala / informing citizens on subjects of environment, peace

and antiracism / promoting life quality / promoting alternative forms of regional and social organization

Publications and co-operation with the local communities facing problems with rubbish dumps and provision of

scientific information.

The construction of an airport at Kalampaka was averted.

Sensitisation of the local community about the distraction of the documents of local traditional culture.

Activities - Results:

Action taken against the distraction of the forest due to the opening up of a roads as well as against the distraction

of the pine forest due to acid rain (as a result the Ptolemaida thermo-electric -plant installed filters).

Expression of opposition, through publications to the local and national press, against the extension of the ski-resort

in Pertoulio. Actions taken (through article publication and information of local agencies) against the illegal sand-

grabbing activities on the Aspropotamos mountain.

Lodging complaints-information of the local community against illegal hunting (abolition of nationwide game licence,

composition of a regional hunting legislation).

Attempts made to sensitise the citizens about environmental degradation caused by the opening up of roads for the

facilitation of stock-raising (grassland management).

Organisation of a seminar with the Scientific Association of Trikala. The subject of the seminar was the pollution of the

prefecture's estuaries from pesticides.

Organisation of a second seminar with environmental groups of Pilio and the Greek Organic Farming Association

regarding the same issue.

Submission of petitions to the competent authorities against the cancellation of works to the sewerage which are

responsible for the pollution of Acheloos river. Publication of articles to the press, regarding the socio-economic and

Organisation of an event with the Society for the Victims of Mesochoras flood, in relation to Acheloos issue.

Information of the local community for the pollution of Pinios and Litheos river / Organisation of a photographic

exhibition and a one day meeting for Acheloos issue.

Organisation of protest march starting from the sources down to Acheloos delta. Publication of articles to the press.
