Legal Status

Today the Organisation is Civic non Profit Organisation since 1991

Initially the Organisation was Other since 1986

Aims

Informing, sensitizing and promoting citizens’ activation on ecological issues / bringing out ecological issues

through social, economic and political dimension / promoting the solution of ecological issues in every legal way

Coordinating the organizations activities – wherever that is possible – with other ecological teams

Office: Rented, Operating days: Daily, Operating hours: Every Monday from 21.00 23.00 and daily from 19.00-

The organisation has access to personal computer and it is mainly uses it for Mail, entering subscribers’ file

There are databases in Paper its morph and structure is Thematic(for instance Strofylia, Helmos etc)

Activities Hall: An area of “Speech and art Megaro” is offered from the municipality

The organisation has 1 payable member

For the organisation are offering voluntary work: 5 persons.

The sitting of a marble quarry in Chelmos was averted due to the publication of the issues concerned, the collection

of signatures against its sitting in the area, interventions made to the prefectural council and with the co-operation of

Kalavritini residents.

Launching of a campaign for the declaration of Chelmos as a national park.

Exposure of the distraction of age old trees at Pontia forest.

Elaboration of tree planting schemes at Omblos in collaboration with the Society for Landscape and Environment

Submission of proposals for the changing of Panachaiko forest land-use to a recreation park.

Participation in the prefectural committee discussing measures to deal with forest fires.

Activities - Results:

Fire protection of groves / Plans to 'cementise' the grove were opposed by our organisation through bringing charges

and the participation of one of our members in the three-member committee established to study the grove and

submit proposals for its management.

Lodging complaints, publication of the attempts made by ERT to install illegal buildings within the grove, bringing of

charges and litigation with positive results.

Announcements made, lodging complaints, representations made to the municipal council, protestation gatherings in

order that the illegal mobile telecommunications antennas are removed from the grove.

the harbour of Patra with the view of informing the public about pollution issues.
