II. Activities

General Issue: Illegal installations

Issue-Topic: Knacker's yard

Activities - Results:

Dynamic mobilisation of the local community (blockade of the knacker's yard) so against the operation of the yard.

The prefectural environment committee reached a conclusion for the dislocation of the yard.

Issue-Topic: Sitting of cement producing factory

Activities - Results:

Mobilisation of the local people (setting up of a co-ordinating committee). The prefectural committee determined the

temporary environmental conditions but these were not met by the plant.

Four decisions were taken by the prefectural council, though not implemented.

Experts opinions were given in 4 cases and fines were enforced which were reduced after the personal intervention

of the prefect.

A sworn administrative examination is currently under way.

Members of our organisation clean the beaches from litter every year (2.5 kms of seashore) and inform the public for

their actions.

The municipality co-finances the technical needs of the cleaning operation.
