Dr Michael Petrou has studied Social Policy and Social Anthropology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens, where he received a Ph.D in Social Anthropology.  He has mainly worked as a researcher in many European and national projects. His research interests focus on an anthropological approach to rural space and rural-urban relationships; especially on socioeconomic change and recomposition, multifunctionality, migration movements, identity and cultural renegotiations of social actors, rural conflicts in local government. Since 2010, he's a researcher in the Institute for Urban and Rural Sociology, the Greek National Centre for Social Research. His recent publications includes: (2011) “Present or absent farm heads?
