Thomas Maloutas studied Architecture and Geography in Paris and obtained his Ph.D from the University of Nanterre-Paris-X. He has taught at the Dept of Planning, University of Thessaly before taking his current position at the Geography Dept, Harokopio University in 2009. He has a long record of direction and participation in national and EU projects and has often been invited to give talks in European and US Universities.
