She has participated as a principal investigator, researcher and expert in Greek and European projects on crime policy, migration and social inclusion, gender-based violence, hate crime and discrimination. Her research interests focus on the study of crime and deviance as socially and politically constituted phenomena, processes of criminalisation, and formal and informal social responses. Her work examines power relations and mechanisms of social control, surveillance practices and security regimes, as well as the protection of human rights. She places particular emphasis on the political production and unequal distribution of vulnerability along lines of gender, class, and national or ethnic origin, and their implications for the operation of criminal justice, drawing on quantitative and qualitative methods of social research.
