The contradictory dimensions of immigration policy in the European Union

This article analyses the immigration policy of the European Union, which is today one of the biggest challenges of the European policy. The  free movement of persons within the European Union, as well as  the increasing pressures on migratory waves, have led the EU to understand the need for European action. Thus, the development of European law since the 1990s relies on these political needs. The two aspects of the common European immigration policy, namely measures to combat illegal immigration related to security policy and measures against terrorism, as well as measures relating to legal migration in the EU Member States, are also mentioned.
