Socioeconomic impact of energy planning: The specialists’ discourse

In this chapter we present the findings from a focus group with academics and researchers specializing in different energy sectors, including renewable sources. The aim of this focus group was to deepen our understanding of the socio-economic impact of the installation and operation of power plants with conventional and renewable sources. In particular, we analyze the institutional framework governing the establishment and operation of production units, the social and economic impact on local communities, the handling of all kinds of problems, and the identification of any good practices.
