Social and environmental conflicts in the Greek Countryside. Socio-cultural and economic stakes.

The project, focuses on a peri-urban agricultural region in order to investigate:

a) social, economic, cultural and productive correlations which result from contrasting practices of appropriation and exploitation of farming land (conservation or grabbing),

b) the resignifying of territorial resources and heritage under the influence of the stereotypical perceptions of the social actors,

c) the way in which different strategies for the productive restructuring of the countryside are shaped, and

d) the role of cultural parameters in the process of signifying the natural environment and rural lifestyles.
