Dynamics Observatory for REsearch Methodology and Infrastructures-DOReMI
Established: 2025

Within the framework of the Institute of Social Research’s (ISR) revised strategic plan, the strengthening of the research infrastructures of the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) for both primary and secondary research, along with the development of ISR’s new identity research, constitute key strategic priorities. In this context, the Observatory is expected to collect relevant information from large-scale comparative international, European, and national surveys, thereby making a substantive contribution to both the enhancement of EKKE’s research infrastructures and the advancement of methodologies applied to large-scale data. These infrastructures and methodologies will be integrated into EKKE’s new identity research and will also serve as a strategic resource to support future research initiatives undertaken by the ISR and the Centre.
Scientific Objectives of the Observatory:
The Observatory aims to:
- Monitor and analyse the methodological approaches, thematic orientations, as well as governance and monitoring models applied in large-scale national, European, and international surveys, in order to inform the new identity research of the ISR/EKKE and support future research initiatives of both the ISR and EKKE.
- Monitor internationally applied data collection and data management infrastructures, aimed at strengthening and modernising EKKE’s primary research infrastructures.
- Monitor internationally applied data documentation, management, and dissemination infrastructures, thereby contributing to the strengthening and modernisation of EKKE’s secondary research infrastructures.
- Function as a documentation and mapping hub for Greece’s participation in large-scale surveys over the past two decades, by collecting, systematising, and organising relevant information.
- Provide advisory support for the development of EKKE’s survey panels (both probabilistic and non-probabilistic).
- Collect, assess, and recommend psychosocial research instruments (such as emotion scales, mental health indicators, subjective well-being indices, narrative methods, among others) used in quantitative and qualitative social research, with a view to integrating them as methodological resources into EKKE’s primary and secondary research infrastructures.
- Organise seminars for the dissemination of innovative methodological tools, best practices, and the use of research infrastructures, thereby supporting the training of social science researchers and students.
