Fieldwork for the 12th round of the European Social Survey in Greece

The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academic, comparative survey conducted in European countries every two years since 2001. Its purpose is to investigate the attitudes, perceptions, and social conditions of European citizens and to provide reliable, comparable, high-quality, and open-access data, thereby making a substantial contribution to the study of social, political, and cultural trends in Europe.

The National Center for Social Research (EKKE) is conducting the 12th round of the European Social Survey (ESS) in Greece, as part of the country’s long-standing participation in this pan-European survey. The survey is conducted nationwide, based on a representative sample of the population, strictly adhering to international quality standards and ensuring a high level of comparability among participating countries as well as the reliability and validity of the data. In addition to the core questionnaire, the 12th round includes two rotating modules that focus on attitudes toward immigrants and refugees, as well as perceptions of personal and social well-being.

The implementation of the project is expected to contribute to the production of up-to-date data on Greek society within a European comparative framework and to support evidence-based public policy-making. ESS data will be made openly available, enhancing transparency and international scientific collaboration.
