Funded by DG Reform, Implemented by JRC, OECD National Closing Event for Greece TSI project “Building Capacity in Evidence Informed Policymaking in post pandemic Europe’ 25 February 2025 Venue: Parliamentary building : 22 - 24 Amalias Av. & Souri Str., 105 57, Athens (ground-floor hall). The project: The multi-country project “Building capacity for evidence-informed policymaking in governance and public administrations in a post-pandemic Europe” is:
• funded by the Technical Support Instrument of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM); and
• implemented by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) between November 2022 and March 2025.
The project aims in building capacity in Evidence Informed Policy making to 7 member states (EL, NL, CZ, LT.LV, EE, BE). The overarching purpose is to improve the effectiveness of public administrations through greater capacity for supply and uptake of scientific knowledge, evaluation and evidence in policy-making. The beneficiary organisations in Greece are the General Secretariat of Coordination of the Presidency of the Government of the Hellenic Republic, the General Secretariat of Fiscal Policy of the Ministry of Finance, the Council of Economic Experts (SOE), the Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE), the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE), and the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”. Moreover, while not formally included as a beneficiary, the Unit of experts in Employment, Social Insurance, Welfare and Social Affairs (MEKY) is informally treated as a key actor, benefiting from the analysis and advice provided in this project. Objectives of the event. The purpose of the National Closing event is twofold. First to raise awareness and to present, in a comprehensive manner, the main findings of the project, the first of this nature for the Greek EIPM ecosystem. Second, and most important, it aims to make full use of the existing momentum in favour of EIPM, both in Greece and in Europe. With this in mind, it brings forward concrete policy suggestions in order to provide the political leadership and all relevant stakeholders with a realistic agenda for change.
