Support of educational activity

ΙΚΕ/EKKE’s Educational Activities Committee (EAC), established in 2014, works to enhance the Center’s co-operation at various levels with secondary and higher education students and institutions. EKKE has reached out to the school community since 2014, aiming to bring the student population into contact with its research activity and to highlight the importance of social research for understanding and analyzing social phenomena. Besides organizing high school students’ visits to the Center and providing information on its research activities and projects, organizing a seminar on research methodology for high school teachers and coaching students in the writing up of a research project, ΙKE’s researchers also lecture in schools and university departments, and participate in courses and seminars for graduate and post-graduate students. Between 2014 and 2015 EKKE researchers drafted sections of a handbook entitled Methodology of Social Research. The EAC has also organized a methodological seminar attended by Social Sciences’ final year students during their internship at the Center which expands their understanding and knowledge of various research tools and methodologies in social research. It also co-ordinates in-house seminars, as well as seminars and lectures given by invited academics. In the academic year 2014-2015 offered targeted support to the educational activity of the prestigious 1st Experimental Athens High School by carrying out: a) a methodological guidance to students and teachers in researching criminality in present-day Greece, b) via the implementation of the project “Pilot monitoring of the implementation process of a research project”. 

 

Master programs in collaboration with Universities

IKE/EKKE jointed efforts with the Business Administration Department of the Athens Higher Technological Institute (Division of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Division of Health and Social Welfare Management) and the Business Administration Department of the University of the Aegean, to organize and offer an MA Program, titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Tourism” (Government Gazette Issue 1485/B/16-7-2015). The Program was launched at the 2015-2016 academic year, aiming at the increasing needs of the business environment for specialized knowledge according to the new trends in global tourism.
